Established in 1992, the Gujarati Cultural Association of Piedmont (GCAP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable and educational organization. Our mission is to create an innovative, inclusive and ideal Gujarati Samaj to implement our vision and activities. We believe we must nurture the youth of our community to become leaders of tomorrow while nourishing our senior citizens to provide opportunities for inter-generational exchange of ideas and knowledge. GCAP was established to preserve Gujarati cultural heritages and traditions, educate the youth, celebrate Indian festivals and create networking amongst individuals within our community.
The Piedmont region of NC includes Greensboro, Winston Salem, High Point and surrounding areas. Each year, GCAP organizes numerous activities and events throughout the year to promote Gujarati/Indian traditions, and bring excitement, values and unity to the growing Gujarati community.
The Board of Directors for GCAP consists of individuals who have dedicated their time, effort, energy, and contributions to establishing a community center to help promote Gujarati culture in the Piedmont Triad Region.
GCAP values charity to the local Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Piedmont Triad communities. Our organization coordinates events and activities such as donation drives, community clean up activities, and charitable events for those who are less fortunate. GCAP aims to impart social change for the advancement of all peoples while also looking to affirm a sense of Indian-American pride, identity, and cultural values.
GCAP’s Mission is to build Indian cultural awareness and share the values, ceremony, rituals, religion, cuisine and culture of Gujarat so future generations can carry forth these traditions and be proud of their heritage. This is consummated by education and events such as Diwali, Holi, Gaarba, Religious Events, Community Gatherings and more.
Gujarati Cultural Association of Piedmont is anchored by our events hall located in Greensboro. GCAP hosts countless events from Holi and Diwali at our facility for the next generation of Indian-Americans in the Triad communities to celebrate their heritage. Our hall is also a perfect venue for family events and celebrations.
Gujarati Cultural Heritage is the cornerstone of GCAP. GCAP offers the venue to pass on an understanding of our rich culture, history, religion and the next generation of our Gujarati community and a safe and comfortable environment to practice our customs.
